I found this ad on Google images and had to post it on my blog. It is interesting to note how the copy tries to persuade young mothers to smoke. Imagine the legal implications of running this advert now. Cigarette advertising has certainly changed over time.
The Difference between Branding and Marketing
I thought this illustration was a simple yet effective explanation between marketing and branding. While I don’t discount the value of marketing in its aim to communicate a brand, brands and branding, however, is much deeper than that.
As the illustration shows, branding is about a brand’s values, the pillars that uphold the brand and how this resonates with the consumer on an emotional and psychological level. It’s about a consumer connecting and believing in what the brand stands and the relationship that is built from this.
